As a brief overview of the lecture, Professor Saeed will broadly cover the following:
- Brief overview of Islam and Muslims in Australia
- Aspects of Muslim community building in the post-1970s (associations, mosques, and educational, cultural, interfaith and economic activities/institutions
- Nature of Australian multiculturalism and social inclusion, and role of Muslims in Australian society
- Debates on being Muslim in the West/Australia. Examples may include: living in a non-Muslim majority context; religion seen in ethical-cultural terms; the law and legal system; and citizenship and full participation in society
